Regional inequality in the Janani Suraksha Yojana coverage in India: a geo-spatial analysis

Abstract Introduction Although India has made significant progress in institutional delivery after the implementation of National Rural Health Mission under which Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) is a sub-programme played vital role increase public facilities. Therefore, this paper aims to provide an understanding JSY coverage at district level India. Further, it tries carve out factors responsible for regional disparity levels. Methods The study used Family Survey data, cross-sectional survey conducted 2015–16, sample size was 148,145 women aged 15–49 years who gave last birth institution during 5 preceding survey. Bivariate and multivariate regression analysis fulfill objectives. Additionally, Moran’s I statistics bivariate Local Indicator Spatial Association (LISA) maps were understand spatial dependence clustering coverage. Ordinary least square, lag error models examine correlates utilization. Results value spatial-autocorrelation 0.71 depicts high over districts overall 36.4% highly varied across different regions, districts, even socioeconomic groups. model that if with no schooling status by 10% then benefits get increased 2.3%. Similarly, from poor wealth quintile, increases also 4.6%. However, greater imperative due its among specific states only.
